Photoshop Class - TaylorFrantaPhotography

This summer I will be offering two Photoshop mini classroom sessions.  One on the introduction to Photoshop and the second on advanced techniques and editing.   Each session will be 2-3 hours long and will be limited to 6 people per session.

Intro to Photoshop

Photoshop can be a daunting program to learn.  Its abilities are nearly endless but that leaves the question of where to start?  I am completely self taught and have been editing photographs in Photoshop for nearly 10 years.  With that being said, I fully understand many of the barriers and can help to simplify Photoshop so that you have a foundation from which to build.  If you are already proficient in Photoshop this course is not for you.  This is for those who have been editing pictures in Lightroom or similar programs and are looking to take you post processing skills to the next level.  While you are welcome to actually follow along in Photoshop with me, this course is more designed to be simply be a class you observe and take notes with.  You can then go home and try some of the techniques on your own photos.

What we will learn:

1.  Layout

2.  Menus

3.  Tools and their functions

4.  Layers

5.  Masks

6.  Blend modes and how they work

7. Shortcuts

8.  Customizing Photoshop to your own liking

9.  Resources to further your knowledge

Advanced Photoshop Techniques

This course is designed for those already familiar with all or most of the above.  I will not be spending much time going over the topics in the intro class and fully expect the class to be familiar with layers, masks, and blend modes.  This class will go through nearly all of the techniques I use in my photos.  In fact we will be going through a start to finish on one of my photos and, time permitting, may be able to edit a couple photos from participants.  Picture files will be provided so that you can follow along.

What we will learn:

1.  Luminosity masks

2.  Selective coloring

3.  Selective sharpening and blurring

4.  Introducing unique traits of certain blend modes

5.  Dodging and burning (with a unique twist!)

6.  Add a "glow" effect

7.  Many other smaller tips/tricks along the way

Each class will cost $50 and is 2-3 hours long.  Both work shops will be held back to back on the same day so if you would like you can attend both classes.

Location will be in the conference room at Proximity Residences located at:

2021 Proximity Dr

Charleston, SC 29414.
